Diabetes Mellitus Algorithm S: Screening and Prevention
* Note: Random non-fasting plasma glucose is not recommended as first
line screening. However, non-fasting plasma glucose >200 mg/dl (on
at least two occasions) is sufficient to diagnose DM, and <110 mg/dl
is sufficient to exclude it. Random (non-fasting) plasma glucose in the
range 111-199 mg/dl should be followed up with a fasting plasma glucose.
